Interview: The Garden Within – On Womb Wisdom, Cyclical Living & Returning to the Sacred Feminine

Petra Nussbaum, Teacher and Womb Healer at Voice of Wombs, Switzerland

I’m delighted to introduce you to the beautiful woman guiding our Womb Blessing journey at this year’s WILD GRACE Retreat, September 25–29, 2026, in Mallorca — Petra Nussbaum. For more than a decade, Petra has been supporting women in reconnecting with the wisdom of their bodies through Womb Blessing, cyclical awareness, and feminine practices. With a deeply compassionate presence, she creates spaces where women feel safe to soften, heal, and reconnect with their inner wisdom.

Petra, what first led you to the path of Womb Blessing?
More than a decade ago, while teaching yoga, I began to notice how profoundly my body changed throughout the different phases of my menstrual cycle. The same practice no longer felt supportive every day, which inspired me to develop a more feminine approach to yoga—one that truly honoured the cyclical nature of a woman’s body.
After one of my women’s classes, a participant introduced me to Miranda Gray’s Womb Blessing and suggested I begin holding women’s circles. The moment felt deeply aligned. I trained as a Moon Mother with Miranda Gray and, in 2013, began offering my first Womb Blessings within women’s circles.

What themes arise most often in the women you accompany?
Every woman's journey is different, yet certain threads appear again and again: menstrual challenges, fertility journeys, preparing for pregnancy, healing after miscarriage or birth, and increasingly, conditions affecting the female reproductive system. At the heart of it all is a longing to reconnect with the wisdom, safety, and innate intelligence of the feminine body.

Why is healing the womb space so essential for women, and why does it reach beyond what conventional medicine can offer?
The womb space is where every human life begins. That alone makes it a sacred place deserving of our reverence and care. In Tantra, the womb is often described as the Garden of Eden—a place that holds the potential to bring more love, softness, and harmony into the world.
While conventional medicine offers invaluable support for the physical body, it rarely addresses the energetic and emotional dimensions of the feminine. When we create an inner sense of safety, stillness, and deep relaxation, healing can unfold from within, allowing women to reconnect with their natural vitality and inner radiance.

The female cycle has long been connected to the rhythms of the moon. How do you experience this relationship today?
When I first began teaching about the menstrual cycle and Womb Blessing over twelve years ago, these topics were often met with scepticism. Today, I’m grateful to see ancient feminine wisdom re-emerging and becoming part of a much wider conversation. Yet I also notice that many women approach cycle awareness as another tool for self-improvement. For me, the deeper invitation is different. It is about cultivating trust, surrender, and reverence for the intelligence of nature. When we stop trying to master these rhythms and instead allow ourselves to move with them, we begin to embody our feminine essence in a profoundly authentic way.

This year, you'll be joining our Wild Grace Retreat as a co-teacher for the very first time. What are you most looking forward to?
I’m truly looking forward to weaving together your deep knowledge of women’s Ayurveda with my Womb Space work. I believe this combination creates a uniquely nourishing and held space—one that invites profound transformation on every level. And of course, the Womb Blessing itself is always a very special moment. Those two hours open a space that is difficult to describe. It is something to be felt rather than explained.
